A beautiful day of calm leads us to Melchior islands.
These islands are a popular place for the start and finish of the Drake Passage. Each islet is named after a Greek letter
Beautiful walks in the snow are possible
An Argentine base provides a well-maintained and well-stocked refuge on these islands
These islands are home to sea lions, which are more active than their fellow Weddel seals. They distract us during the few days of waiting to cross the Drake again.
Moulting is not just for Gentoo Penguins
